When purchasing a pattern for crocheted doll clothing, make sure the seller has listed that the pattern has been tested.  This will save you time and money.  Even an experienced crocheter will make mistakes when writing a pattern.  If it has been tested, then you will know that it will turn out as the pattern is pictured or described.
