The smoky eye look has been "in" for a long time and it is highly unlikely it will go out anytime soon. But, how do you get that smoldering look of models and movie stars?? Well, it really is quite simple, just follow these simple instructions and then go out and wow the world with your new look.

Beauty does not have to be expensive, or difficult. Anything you will need to create this look can be found on ebay for a fraction of the cost of the department stores. There are many wonderful sellers and they have great products.

The shadow

To create a smoldering look for the evening you will need three kinds of eyeshadow. A neutral; a darker grey and a black. Preferably the black would have a slight glitter. Some of my personal favorites are Dior, Chanel and Lancome, but any will do.

Step one; sweep the neutral over the entire lid. Dont be shy!! Take it right up to the eyebrows. Next take the darker color (but not your darkest!) and blend the grey shade over the entire eyelid up to the crease. Last for the shadow, take the deepest shade and create some drama by sweeping a brush across the lid to create a thick line. This will truly define your eyes and make them smolder!

Now this part is critical, take a good eye shadow blending brush (my absolute favorite is by Bobbi Brown - it was expensive, but I have had it for years) and smudge the line to soften.

The liner

Line eyes along the top, bottom and inner rim of the lashes with a soft pencil in either a deep grey or a black, even a midnight blue will work. If you use black, make sure you soften it with a brush so it doesn't look goth (unless that is your desire, then pile it on with minimal blending) but do blend if you are trying for a smoky evening look.

Curl those lashes

My favorite lash curler, bar none...and YES it does make a difference...is Shu Uemura. It costs more, but trust me it is worth it and makes a huge difference.

The Mascara

For the finishing touch add two layers of mascara. My absolute favorite is Lancome Definicils in Black/Noir. No..I am not saying that because I sell it, it really is my favorite. Second favorite - good old pink and black tube of Maybelline.

You are set - Voila - simply gorgeous - now go out and have a great time!
