I have been an Investor and Coin Collector for over 40 years and what I am finding now on eBay is realing got me burning. I have done my research and have found that there are approximately 10 sellers on eBay from China all using about 4 to 5 different account names. They sell everything from fake giant amber with huge scorpions or snakes in them (never happens) to fake Gibson guitars. Now the big thing is to sell fake, counterfeit Morgan and Trade Dollars. You will find more counterfeit Trade Dollars because back between 1873 to 1885 these .900 Silver dollars where struck, in low numbers I might add, for circulation in the Orient to compete with the dollar-sized coins of other countries. These were legal tender in the United States. In 1887 Congress & the Treasury redeemed all trade trade dollars that were not mutilated. The highest number ever minted was in 1877 from the San Franscio mint which was 9,519,000 coins. The lowest was in 1885 and that was only 5 coins minted. Most coins found on eBay will either be 1879, which if real would be worth around $1000.00 to $1200.00 and 1876 CC (Carson City), which the ones I have seen would be worth anywhere between $10,000 to $13,000. These Chinese counterfieters sell these coins for less than $1.00 U.S. dollar and then add about $50 to $80 U.S. dollars in shipping, but hide it by posting it as GBP (Gold British Pounds), which as of November 10, 2006 the exchange rate was $1.90845GBP per $1.00 US Dollar. I have actual e-mails from these sellers admiting that they are selling what they call "fake" coins. They even sell counterfeit Silver Panda's, their own Nations coins! In this Country you would go to prison for a long time for counterfeiting currency, yet eBay countinues to allow it, even letting these Chinese sellers post and sell for free just so they can "hook" them into becoming sellers on eBay regardless of the numbers of United States Citizens who are getting burned over this new form of communist takeover. Yes Communist Takeover. Let us not forget the China is still known as "RED CHINA" and that they are a communist country. Why we are letting them rob our citizens like this is beyound me. So, BUYER BEWARE. DO NOT BUY ANY COINS FROM CHINA. YOU WILL GET BURNED.
