Sorry, I wished the pictures were bigger because they have text included. But I've noticed a few Phony Scotty Camerons on E-bay, and wish to enlighten buyers on how to spot the most obvious. The Studio Style is the most prevelent knock-off here on e-bay, so here's some pointers to help you spot the "fakes". One thing for sure with the covers is the Titleist logo, the "T" is much more curved on a fake, and the aligment is usually further left. Also look at the letters "A" and "M" the A on a fake comes to a point at the top, and is more curved on an original, and the "M" is much more straight up and down than on an authentic headcover. As far as the club itself, most phonies will not have the proper shaft, if the shaft is "TrueTemper", be warned, it's not a stock shaft, or at least it's not common to see the actual "True Temper" written on the shaft itself. Additionally the Scotty Cameron sticker with club details will always be under the grip (not visible when at address), unless it's a full wrap-around, of course. The most important thing is to ask for additional photos from the seller of a Studio (SC) putter, or any suspicious Scotty, because there are many fakes on the market now, ask for detailed photos of the sole, cover, and milled face. Also, the back will not show any signs of (buffing) on the backside of a fake, it will look almost "powdery"; this is a good sign the club was never really finished in the "Studio". I hope this helps buyers steer clear of counterfeit SC's. A phony SC will sell for around 150 to 200 dollars, but is only worth about $10.00, and that's just for the scrap metal.
Cover on right is authentic, note text. Putter on top is authentic.
Headcover on right Authentic.Notice size of dots, & text difference.
bottom real, look at milling
cover on bottom real, notice the M, R, and O text.
probably hard to see, but blue dot is sloppy!
Okay, some new picture additions... one thing I can stress is always look at the "Stamps", some are so obvious, they are not straight and look like any basic stamp marks. And Studio Style heads DO NOT COME WRAPPED IN PLASTIC!!! The Cameron Crown in pics below are perfect examples of this. If you are ever in doubt, check around, there's lots of ways to put your mind at ease about fake Scotty's. There are also many fake headcovers, so beware! On Circle T's the "Circle" isn't "closed", there is a gap between where the right arm of the T would meet the bottom part of circle coming around, if that makes sense. Anyways, ALL PHOTOS BELOW ARE OF FAKE SCOTTY ITEMS!!!
Also, be aware of many fake headcovers, a good way to check Tour Only's is to ask for pics of the inside, if the stiching goes all the way through the velcro, steer clear, and also be leary of sellers unloading a lot of "rare" headcovers all at once, they're rare for a reason, not saying all sellers are selling fakes, there are a lot of good sellers, but just be cautious, some sellers do try to scam. Thanks for reading all this, and good luck!
NOW THERE ARE NOW FAKE STUDIO SELECTS OUT THERE FOLKS!!! ESPECIALLY NOTICE THE SIZE OF THE WEIGHTS, SMALL=FAKE!!! GOOD LUCK E-BAYERS!
