I got had and so did my seller? There are a great many couterfeit Shure microhones on there in Ebay. It is impossible to tell until you have the item in hand. I recently recieved to such items, shipped quickly, and on intitial inspection seemed to be ok. When I plugged them in for use, I got nothing. I took them to a local Shure Dealer who inspected them and showed me the chinese newsprint that had been glued into the body of the mic. I contacted the Seller who promptly refunded my purchase price and told me that he had no idea that they were fake and would check with his supplier. And could I please ship them back to him. I contacted Shure and was told to ship the items to them as part of their anti-counterfeit program. I was also contacted by another buyer who had the same problem with the same seller. ebay is great and even this transaction has been positive. However I will never again buy a " Brand new" Shure Mic from Ebay unless it was a music store that was an authorized Shure dealer. Or any other item that lends itself to counterfeiting. The seller in this did not dispute my claim. I filed a dispute with PAYPAL with the seller resolved within 5 minutes by refunding my purchase price. Both sellers and buyers beware you never know what you're going to get. Save yourself the hassle and inconvience and buy from an Shure authorized dealer for new microphones.
24 APRIL 2007- Follow up. The seller is no longer a registered user with eBay. All his listings have been removed. I'm not sure what that says other than there is a high probability that he was selling counterfiet Shure microphones intentionally. So best the bet is go to a licensed dealer either Online or locally to get your genuine Shure microphones!
Good luck Everyonbe hope this helps.
