There are so many makeup brushes available, how do I know what I really need? To be honest, lots of them probably have a particular use, but if we bought all of them, not only would they be a waste of money, they would probably sit on the counter collecting dust. Here are a few that I simply couldn't do without. Not a lot of them, but they are all that I need!
1. Blush Brush
I have a big fat fluffy one that I use for blush and powder. No need for two! Just be sure to wash it often. Think of all the oil that it can pick up if used every day.
2. Angle Brush
I use this for applying color to my brows and occasionally I even use it to apply a little extra shadow to my lash line. *Look for a brush with stiff bristles and a sharp angle.
3. Eye Shadow Brush
I found this one quite by accident. The head of this brush is almost rounded. It seems to pick up the right amount of color and covers the lid in one stroke. I have used lots of shapes, but this one is my favorite.
4. Eye Crease Brush
I could probably get away with simply using the eye shadow brush, but frankly, this narrower version does a much better job. If you have heavy lids, this will give you the illusion of the eyes you wish you had been born with.
5. Lip Brush
If you haven't tried a lip brush, you don't know what you are missing. Not only does it pick up less color that applying it straight from the tube, lipstick seems to last longer too. And finally, look for a lip brush that is retractable. Before heading out, pick up a little lipstick on the bristles and then close it up. If you need a touch up during the night, it's ready and waiting.
So there you go. I can get by with a grand total of five brushes! Just think of how much money I have saved!
