In the U.S., liquid measurement is not only used for liquids such as water and milk, it is also used when measuring other ingredients such as flour, sugar, shortening, butter, and spices.

3 teaspoons = 1 Tablespoon

16 Tablespoons = 1 Cup

8 ounces = 1 cup

2 Cups = 1 Pint

2 Pints = 1 Quart

4 Cups = 1 Quart

8 Pints = 1 Gallon

4 Quarts = 1 Gallon

16 Cups = 1 Gallon

 

Your Miscellaneous Conversion:

1 pinch = 1/8 teaspoon or less

1 teaspoon = 60 drops

 

Basic Cooking Rule:

16 ounces = 1 pound
