Type "cookie cutter" into the eBay search box and on any given day your might get thousands of hits. Cookie cutters have emerged as a craft of their own, no longer relegated to the Christmas sugar cookie. You can find recipes for the a wide variety of cut out cookies. But more remarkable is the variety of cookie cutters themselves. There are literally thousands of shapes. For a recent superbowl party (Go Steelers), I found myself searching for footballs, helmets and jerseys to decorate. Easter brings out all the spring cutters from the traditional bunny and egg shapes to spring flowers and baskets.
Many cookie cutters are collectible and the vintage can fetch a handsome price. Whether they are made of plastic, tin, copper, or even stainless steel collecting cookie cutters is a great hobby and if you actually bake with them, you can enjoy them over and over again. If you are really into collecting contact the Collector's Club at CCCC, P.O. BOX 245, CANNON FALLS, MN 55009 (I have no affiliation with them.)
