If it's the same stereo cabinets I am thinking about, I don't know why people throw them away either or there not collectible. My neighbor was looking for someone to take her console stereo cabinet, at first I was reluctant. But I knew the sound was great in them, this console stereo was very old, and a tube console, many were made of large scale semiconducters, but this was a tube console and it sounded pretty darn good. So I took it off her hands, free of charge. I plan on using it for my TV and CD enterainment center. I no longer listen to records, or just every once in a while, so I plan on doing a little adjustments like running wire into the Console amp from my CD and TV. It'll make a great sounding system, and instead of storing Albums in it, I can put my CD's and DVD's in it. The old console stereo's do sound good and they can be recycled into great entertainment centers, with a little ingenuity.
