I have seen a great many console stereos on ebay.  I wouldn't be writing this guide had I not.  I have a great fondness for these relics of a lost era.  I have a tendency to collect them, actually.  Console stereos generally have beautiful cabinets, good (at least) electronics, and better sound than what we're forced to accept these days.

Console stereos, however, are not a hot item just now.  The "outdated" cabinets are being thrown into the garbage so the "amp freaks" may have what's left.  They're being turned into "entertainment centers" or aquaria.  The amps, speakers, record changers, tape players, and receivers are being auctioned off on eBay constantly.  Why is the full console stereo not being auctioned off?  They have beautiful cabinets (and I know the Danish Modern people love them.), and they have everything.

Why isn't the console stereo a full collectible?
