Intro:

This guide regards Compaq Power Adapters to help insure that you don't purchase one on eBay that is covered under the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recall for fire hazard.
What to check for:

This recall involves AC adapters with the model series number "PPP003SD," " PPP003" and "PP2012," which is located directly under "Compaq Computer Corporation" on the AC adapter label(usually at the top of the label). The AC adapters were sold individually and also with the following notebook computers:



   
There are the only three adapter model series affected. There was an exchange program for these adapters, but it ended several years ago.

These recalled adapters occasionally show up on eBay-I've ended up with several over the years.  These adapters also can end up included with later Compaq models, such as the Evo N600c series laptops

If you find that the adapter is under recall, I would suggest trying to resolve the issue with the seller and escalating only should the seller prove unresponsive.  Selling items covered under a CPSC recall is a violation of eBay's policy on recalled items.
