GUESS WHAT?
Kangaroos and Koalas dont live in our backyards (gasp, horror). You wont walk through Sydney, or Melbourne, and happen to run into them - unless of course you happen to visit a Zoo.
Now, I know you would have no way of knowing this, unless you have visited Down Under - so I am taking the time to dispel a few common myths about our critters.
Kangaroos and Koalas really arent very cute. To start with, Kangaroos are huge - roughly 6 m standing upright. They have huge tails which they can use to balance, while they kick with their back legs. Many people and even more animals die every year from being disemboweled by Kangaroos. They have extraordinary strength in their legs, and huge razor like claws.
Koalas on the other hand STINK. You really wouldn t want to get too close to one. The stench of urine is unbelievable. Koalas are facing a tough battle though as most of the have a form of Chlamydia (horney little things).
Its not all bad though, because you would never come in contact with either one unless you go to the bush, or grab a stuffed one from a tourist shop.
Its not all bad in Australia though... You could go up noth to Darwin and get eaten by a Crocodile - yep, that really does happen. Just yesterday a 5 year old girl was snatched and eaten. Well, we assume she was eaten, because there have been no remains to speak of.
Want to know about our spiders? Theres a lovely one called the Sydney Funnel Web. One little nibble from this guy - and youre dead. He loves to live in your garden.
I'm not trying to put you off travelling - no way. Come to Australia - our animals are getting HUNGRY
