Color Your World--What do You Want to Say About You?
What is the first thing almost everyone notices about you and what you are wearing? The color! Almost all human beings enjoy a rich visual sense of the world around them, and color is one of the most important of these. The right personal colors can make or break the impressions you make to yourself and to others. When looking for something new to wear, think of the following things:
What were you wearing when you got the most complements from others?
What do you feel best in personally?
Do you wear your favorite color a lot, but no one seems to notice?
Consider some of the cues above when shopping--I bet almost everyone has things in their closet they never wear, and maybe for good reason!
I remember wearing bright pantsuits to work in corals and deep reds. These were perfect on me, and always got complements. My mother told me years ago that someone gave me a beautiful lavender dress when I was a baby--when she put it on me, I looked like I died! For years after that I avoided all lavenders and purples--but in college I got a deep jewel-toned purple dress on sale--and what a bargain! That dress was the perfect shade--I got plenty of use out of that purchase!
The right colors will give you confidence and complements. And that favorite color? Check the shade--you may need to have it lighter, darker, or with a different color mixed in. As I learned years ago, you can wear things you maybe thought you could not--you just have to find your personal twist on it!
As far as those things in the closet? Maybe you don't wear them, not because they do not fit or are out of style. Maybe it is the color--if you can't fix it with a new scarf, a cute belt, or a different top or bottom to go with it, you should consider replacing it--someone else may find it the perfect complement maker!
