How To Display & Store Your Hummel Collectible Figurine

At CollectorsLine, we carry only the finest collectible figurines. We are delighted to present the beautiful M.I. Hummel line created by the Goebel Company.

Display your beautiful, collectible Hummel figurine is a safe, cool, dry place. Many collectors enjoy displaying their Hummels in a curio or display cabinet that protects precious figurines. The extra investment in a display cabinet is well worth the effort, as Hummels continue to grow in value if you take care of them.

Do not showcase your Hummel in direct sunlight. Over time, direct sunlight will discolor your Hummel. Do not display your Hummel in rooms like a bathroom where humidity can cause oxidation and crazing.

What is Crazing?
Sometimes Hummel figurines look like they have spider webs covering their surface. Crazing is hairline cracks in the glaze on the surface of the Hummel. It doesn’t hurt the figurine but it is distracting. Crazing is caused by changes in temperature and humidity or allowing water to seep inside the figurine while cleaning. Keep your Hummel at consistent temperature and humidity levels to prevent crazing and be sure to cover the air hole so that water will not get inside the figurine.

What are those silvery shiny spots on your Hummel?
Those silvery shiny spots on your Hummel are caused by the re-oxidation of the metallic oxide paint that Goebel artists use. Excessive oxidation can be caused by storing your precious collectible in a damp place or wrapping in silk paper. To prevent oxidation, make sure your Hummel is displayed or stored in a cold, dry place and avoid extreme temperature changes. When storing, wrap your Hummel in bubble wrap. If your Hummel has already suffered from oxidation, don’t despair! Take your Hummel to a professional restorer and they will re-fire your figurine to its original appearance.

When you need to move or store your Hummel, the best way to do so is to reuse the box and padding in which it was shipped. If you recycled the box, you can store your Hummel in bubble wrap. Do not use newspaper, colored tissue, or papers that may transfer images to the surface during storage.

CollectorsLine is pleased to offer a beautiful selection of M.I. Hummel collectible figurines that will delight any collector! Please visit our eBay Store, CollectorsLine, for a wonderful selection of Hummel collectible figurines, great selection, and wonderful service!
