It is my hope to promote the collecting of currently under valued American made Wheaton Presidential Bottles.
The Wheaton Presidential Decanter was created after the Death of President Kennedy as a monument in glass to the fallen young leader. So well received was this exquisite decanter that a continuing series of Presidential Decanters was launched and at six month intervals new editions, similar to the original JFK in their Boston watch fob design and iridescent highlights were issued. They are truly high quality American made Glass from Wheaton/ Nuline, Millville, New Jersey. The Last of the series was President Nixon. These bottles originally retailed for five dollars in the early 1970's. They were never intended to be used as a Liquor decanter. They were intended to be admired for the quality and iridescent carnival glass appearance.
Now the warning! These bottles enjoyed such popularity that several glass makers introduced counterfeit bottles. These are easily identified by the absence of Wheaton and symbol on the bottom of the bottles. Most I have encountered have Pat. Pending. The other way to spot a fake is the absence of the carnival iridescent appearance.
Other Wheaton collections include the Famous American series and the Stars series. Wheaton also enjoys success with its production of replica miniature bottles. These are copy's of actual antique bottles and remain popular because of the tiny size.
