Collecting Video Game Systems 1994-2006
Whether you're starting to collect video games or you're a long time collector
this guide should tell you alot about most systems new and old.
I'll start with new systems and go backwards
The microsoft X-box 360 is the first next generation console to hit the market with superior graphics, new games, all new features and a lot more including two main systems
the core system and the premium system. The stock price for the core system is $299 while the premium is $399 but because they are sold out everywhere
the cost for this new system can run you $500-$750. My overall rating of the 360 is 9.5 stars out of 10.
Next is the sony playstation 2
this system took the video game world by storm with its release in Oct 2000.
with graphics unheard of at the time new features like the ability to watch DVDs and play online with all new game series this has been one of the most popular systems ever.
My rating 9 of 10 the price of the system is $75-$200.
Third is the microsoft X-box.
My personal favorite this system had a smaller following when it was released in Nov 2001 then the playstation 2 is my second favorite.
But since then has gained more and more popularity with the release of one of the best shooters ever Halo and with Halo 2 players were allowed to battle online with X-box
live {microsoft's online gaming service} this was one of the best moves ever for microsoft and the xbox has been a big seller
the rating 9.1 of 10 the price can run $75-$200.
Fourth is the Nintendo gamecube this is nintendo's effort to match sony and microsoft and it's a good effort at that
it came out a day after xbox in nov. 2000 and it has been a pretty good system with the nintendo classic mario games and many other classics like donkey kong and Zelda.
the price can be 50-200 dollars
my rating 8.5 of 10.
Fifth the Sega dreamcast.
sega's answer to the new systems the dreamcast came out in 1999 and was one of the most underappreciated systems although it had online play and better graphics then the gc and almost as good as xbox and PS2. It had the arcade game crazy taxi and crazy taxi 2, it also had all new games like Shenmue and Phantasy Star, and the gran turismo battler sega gt.
The price is 20-150 dollars
My rating 9 of 10.
Sixth the Nintendo 64.
Released in 1996 this was the Playstations' best competitor with good grpahics and all new series of games like mario, donkey kong, and Super Smash Bros. They made several different colors so the price differs but they're usually 15-200 dollars.
My rating 8.5 of 10.
Seventh the Sega Saturn.
This was Sega's answer to the Playstation and was a very underrated system.
It was a good system though and had good 3d graphics for its time and an arcade classic Virtua Fighter.
The price runs 50-200 dollars.
My rating is 8.1 of 10.
Last but certainly not least the Sony Playstation.
The most succesful system of all time with over 100 million systems sold and over 1000 games made
since its release in 1994 it had been going the direction video games were going to go with 3d graphics.
The price range $10 used up to 50 new.
My rating 9 of 10. <that's the 1994 playstation. that's the 2000 playstation 1>
I hope through this guide you've learned as much about video game systems as I have learned.
