Thanks for taking the time to review this guide.  If you find it helpful please click yes at the bottom of the page.  Sports memorabilia cards have become a major part of the card collecting world today and include game worn pieces of jerseys, helmets, bats, and pretty much anything else you can think of that an athlete wears.  These cards first appeared on the market in the 90s and have grown in popularity and demand.  There are several things to know and watch out for when searching for these cards and I will discuss that in this guide.  There are many ways to obtain memorabilia cards in todays market, with some companies producing packs of cards where there is a memorabilia card in every pack to one or two per box.  SP Authentic and Upperdeck's Be A Player Brands I have found are the best for obtaining relatively cheap memorabilia cards, but there are many other brands out there that also feature memorabilia cards as well.

Card shows are another good way to purchase memorabilia cards.  At pretty much any table at a show you can find 1 - 3 dollar bins of cheaper cards, although many of them are not big name players, it is a great way to build your collection for little money.

If you are buying memorabilia cards on e bay there are a couple of things to watch out for.  First some sellers will list a card as 1 of 1 meaning it is the only one of its kind produced, which may not be entirely true.  These cards will typical generate more interest and higher prices if it is a true 1of 1.   Often times though individuals will say that a jersey number  for the serial number on the card or a certain cut of the jersey makes it a 1 of 1.  So make sure you read carefully.  Also there have been scams individuals have altered cards to make them jersey cards, taking a random piece of a jersey and pasting it on a card.  I have been burnt by this in the past so it is important to pay attention to the photos.  If the photo is not clear then ask for a blow up of the card, most reputable buyers will provide you with this when asked.  Hopefully this helps and good luck collecting.
