Starting a collection of books by your favorite author can be a rewarding and enjoyable hobby. Kathleen E. Woodiwiss is a great author to start a collection of historical romances because of her relatively small body of works. I will tell you a bit about the author herself, and list her body of works .
Born Kathleen Erin Hogg she was the youngest of 8 children and loved story telling from a very young age. After marrying at 17 she started putting one of her stories to paper. Her first novel, The flame and the Flower was published by Avon in 1972 after being rejected multiple times by other publishers because of its length, over 600 pages. The Flame and the Flower has been credited with spawning the modern historical romance genre. It was ground breaking as an epic historical novel that featured a strong female protagonist as well as actual descriptive sex scenes.
Woodiwiss took many years to complete a novel so upon her untimely death from cancer at age 68 she had only published 14 novels. Her final book, Everlasting was published posthumously in 2007.
