Disney's Wonderful World of Reading -COLLECTING-

This Guide Tells a little about Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Reading Book Club.   How to tell the difference between old and new editions.  Where to get great deals and buy the books.  Also How to easily keep track of all the books when collecting, using a Checklist.

All of these books are wonderful for adults and children of all ages.  In the very early 1980's This Collection began, throughout the years it has continued and is still going on strong.

Every Book includes a great story with easy to read pages and beautiful illustrations. 

They include everyone's favorite characters and some new characters to love!  These Books are something to be loved and treasured for generations to come. 


Some Differences between old books and new books:

Similarities:

• All books have hard covers.
• All Feature Disney Characters & Stories
  

Older Books:

•  Cover is matte (non-shiny) & a little bit rough.
• Came in Two different, distinct sizes, regular (same size as current) and Larger Sizes.  Still not certain why some came in bigger size and some in reg. size.
• Most Published by Grolier
  

Newer Books:

•  Cover is very smooth & shiny.
• All are the same size except for Year Books
  
• All have a solid back color w/no writing except for the Scholastic versions which have a barcode/picture and different "Wonderful World of Reading" Logo
• Published by Grolier or Scholastic

Year Books:

• Older & Newer versions follow the same above distinctions for their covers.
• Older versions were smaller and newer are a larger size.
  

Also note that there are quite a few "Alternate Versions" that have been produced.


Where to find the Wonderful World of Reading Books:

The bookclub can be joined where you can receive books in the mail, however the only issue with that is you can not choose which books you are sent.  So if you are like me and have more books than you can count on your hands and feet, the club will not work out to join.   I've even tried contacting the book club directly to ask them if I could pick out which ones I wanted to buy and they advised me it couldn't be done. 

So having to find out better options..

You may also have luck at garage sales, book sales or thrift shops.  If you find any duplicates you can always list them here on Ebay.
