This is the perfect hobby to begin if you love history and ancient rome.Once you buy your first roman coin it will truly spark an interest that will last a lifetime. It is very exciting and thrilling to be holding a piece of history in your very hands. This guide will explain a little about roman coins and types of roman coins I hope you will find it helpful.

The Romans minted coins in very large numbers several million and most are still around in very nice shape.Roamns began minting coins hundreds of years  before the time of christ. The more common coins were minted in the third and fourth centuries AD (200 AD To 400 AD) so most ancient coins are around 1600 years old or older  and many 2000 years old or older. The coins back then were all handstruck and each is diffrent and unique and most small around the size of a dime to a nickle. They were made from copper, bronze, silver and even gold. Each coin depicts a historical event such as when a new emporer came into power or one died. Each one is very unique and no one alike since they were all handsrtuck

Many of these roman coins are really affordable you can buy them uncleaned or already attributed and cleaned.I perfer unclened it is much more exciting its liike digging for buried tresaure you never know what you may find  here is a picture of some of my coins being cleaned.

The unclenaed ones cost around 2 bucks or more and the cleaned one's of course cost more depenind on the rarity of the coin, but I find it very fun to clean them myself. There are also many diffrnt techniques to  cleaning coins everyone experiments and finds a process they like the best. The cleaning process can take weeks, months or years depening on how dirty the coin is.You must remember patience! its part of the process.

I love collecting roman coins because it gives me a feeling of bringing history to life. These coins have a way of making you feel connected to the past and all thoes people who's hands the coin may have passed through. It is a very exciting hobby as well as affordable I hope you will like it to!
