Due to the overwhelming popularity of the 50 States Quarter Collection and the Westward Journey Nickel Collection, few people I've talked to know that the United States Congress has authorized into law "Public Law 109-145" on 12/22/2005.  This new act will serve as law to the United States Treasury to authorize the production of new coinage.  Due to the slump of the Sacajawea gold dollar, a new change will happen at the start of 2007.  The Presidential Dollar Series will be issued like the quarter and nickel series were, with 4 different Presidential  Dollars issued each year, starting with good 'ol George Washington and ending with ????.  Unsure if the mint is going to make these out of gold bullion or the easier to use standard dollar coins (such as the SBA dollars and the Sacajawea Dollar) as Congress has authorized both.  And on top of all that, with the start of the Presidential Dollars, will be the Start of the Presidential Spouses (supposed to be $10 DENOMINATION coins / unknown if bullion or something usable in the future to phase out paper money) The Presidential spouses will be iussued the same as the Presidential Dollars.  (IF I WAS PRESIDENT, I WOULD BE SORT OF MIFT, THAT THE WIFE GETS THE $10.00 COIN AND I JUST GET STUCK ON A BUCK) This should keep coin collectors and grading companys busy for 2 years while the Quarter program ends and the Dollar program and Presidential Spouse $10 will be ramping up.

Also mentioned in PL109-145 is the issuance of the just released $50 gold bullion buffalo coins.

Also mentioned in PL109-145, starting in 2009 will be the new pennies.  Like the .25, $1.00, .05, this will be a series of pennies commemorating 100 years of Abe Lincoln on the penny.  I think five different designs are slated but could be changed????

Please vote for me, if this was of any interest to you at all.  Thanks.

Well this should keep the average joe collector like me fully indebted to the US Mint for the next few years keeping my eye and my wallet in search of new coinage.  I invite you to search on the internet for Public Law 109-145 and read it yourself, its actually a piece of legislature thats half interesting to read.
