What is a Mouth Blown Glass Ornament

It's an old European tradition.  The Victorians, especially, wanted hand blown or mouth blown glass ornaments.  Hand decorated with beautiful colors and glitter.  When Christopher Radko found he could not replace the family heirloom ornaments from his grandmother, he started a new tradition, bringing back into the marketplace special glass blown ornaments since 1986.  Now being sold in more than 2500 department stores across the US.  With only a two GALAXY store retailers, that carry the entire Radko lineup, both in California.  Roger's Gardens, the original Starlight Store in Corona Del Mar, or Angela's Florist and Christmas Shoppe in Newbury Park.

Each year, new Radko ornaments come into the mix, while about 1/3 are retired.  Making them collectible and increasing in value.  Unlike other collectibles, Christmas never goes out of style.  Just as family traditions are passed down, so are the ornaments and decorations of the season.  eBay has created a new collector world, where Christmas collectors can buy both current and discontinued items, making it a must shop location for any serious or casual collector.

There are no hard and fast rules.  Buy what you like, what fits into your decorating style.  While some ornaments will bring far more than the original price, often you can find them at 1/2 their orginal price.  Just be aware, they are more valuable if they have:

• original box
• all the original tags
• store tags
• original packing materials
• no nicks, cracks or scratches

in other words, their value may increase if they have never been out of the original box and never used.  But that's not always the case, and it's a shame to buy them if you can't enjoy them.  For the most part, save the wrapping and the boxes and everything that came with your ornament.  But enjoy displaying it on your tree or on a mantle during the holiday season.  Radko ornaments bring a smile to your face!
