You just bought the perfect dress and shoes and you are ready for a night out.  You need that perfect purse to set the outfit into motion.

So many choices to consider

Color:

The rule of thumb is to match your shoes or wrap (pashmina) .  For black this is relatively easy. Colors such as red, pink, ivory, green, blue, brown, or silver can be off so try and match as close as you can.  Any mistake in color can be easily forgiven because your shoes and purse wont be next to each other.  However, if you are matching your wrap, be careful.

The rule of color can be broken! If your purse is your accent accessory, then go bold and colorful.  This can be the accessory that will set your outfit into motion!  You could be wearing a black dress and shoes.  Bring in a colorful bag and matching earrings!  You will look like you are ready for the oscars!

Size:

Size does matter!  For evenings you are probably going to carry lipstick, a few $$, credit cards and license, and cell phone.  This should all fit into a bag no smaller than 4x6.  If you think you need to carry more than you will need a larger bag .  Chances are you can go for a small bag  and it will still be functional.

Type:

You can choose clutch, shoulder, miniature, round, squared, free form, or handled.  This is totally your call.  Think about where you will be and what you will be doing.  A night of dancing might call for a clutch bag.  However, if you are attending a wedding you might want something with a handle.  Or sometimes we really want to keep track of ourpurse  -those nights call for a shoulder strap so I can be hands free and not have to worry about my purse.

Fabric and detail:

This is when you can let yourself go.  Choose satin or velvet, beaded or sequin.  The skys the limit, so let yourself have some fun!

Final thoughts:

Dont be afraid of adding color and detail to your outfit with your purse
