Be careful is the #1 rule! Many web hosting providers out there are selling hosting from servers which are overloaded. The web hosting companies which you see hosting for around $1-3 month for unlimited accounts probably have around 10,000 websites on them. This means your site is going to perform slow and probably the server is going to go through spikes and go up and down all the time.

Send a message to the user and ask them how many sites do they let host on each server before they consider the server to be full. If they respond with a # then they are full of it. A good response would be a response talking about CPU usage such as: "We measure our server load by the CPU usage. When the server reaches 60% CPU at the busiest time of the day then that server is ready to be closed. New customers go on to a new server." Thats a good answer. They said in dummy terms: "When the server is really really busy, only 60% of the maximum of the server is being used. That means there is still 40% of the server to work and take on new things."

Reading feedback isnt always the correct way to choose. Many times, feedback is left right after their account is received. Which means they havnt logged in to check the account. Try your account out for about 2 weeks, then leave feedback for the user. Thats the way to do it. Remember this is digital delivery, not something you are receiving in the mail. So it will change throughout time. Sometimes near instantly and somewtimes after a few days.

Research the company. A sloppy site means they are unprofessional. No professional company would put up a sloppy website or ad in fact. Take the time to look at their website and check links going to their website. See what others are saying out there about this hosting company. You can check any search engine out there to see what they are saying by typing in: "link: http://theirdomain.com" without the qoutes. This will show you every page talking about them. If you find nothing, then they are a big nothing. If you find something, read what you find to learn what customers are saying about this company. If all checks out good, then your good to go. If all checks out bad or you find nothing at all, then you have saved yourself a headache.

Also look for companies that are willing to give you a 30 day unconditional money back guarantee. Trying is always good. If they cannot offer you a 30 day money back guarantee then even they know that their service is not very good. A good hosting company will show that money back guarantee everywhere and make it a big deal because it is a big deal!

There you have it. Buying web hosting if done properly with proper research can prove to be a very big step in the future of your business and a relief of your everyday worries.
