Need a motorcycle or snowmobile mask? Consider coverage and material...
While the leather would work best to shield you from all the elements, it is usually only available in a half mask so something else (like an ear wrap) would need to cover your forehead. That leather bandanna style, however, does a very nice job keeping the wind off your neck. You want to be sure you don't get a cheap leather mask with no lining. The leather up against your skin may actually leave black dye marks on your face if the leather gets wet from your breath or in rain. The neoprene is the warmest mask we offer because of the full face coverage and the heat retention qualities, however, persistant rain exposure will leave you with a wet face eventually and it doesn't cover the neck. So when picking between the leather and neoprene, you need to consider what type of coverage you need more than anything because they are both quite warm. The cloth mask we offer for just $7.99 and the stretch hoods (made of polyester from $12.99) work well for bugs and sand, but are no thicker than a t-shirt so they won't do much to keep away the cold.
We offer a couple dozen different masks at dbGear.com because not all masks are created equal and we want you to get the one right for your particular riding situation.
Cheap alternative??? Every biker should always have a bandanna on hand because if you left home without a mask, a bandanna works great in a pinch. It's not the warmest, but it will help a lot in cold and rain, plus they come in handy to wipe dew off your seat or tie on your head if your forehead starts to get too sunburned. It's one of the most useful pieces of motorcycle apparel. Don't leave home without it.
