- chewy foods, such as thick spoonfuls of peanut butter
- hot dogs
- coins
- marbles and small balls
- small magnets
- small batteries
- balloons, which can be a choking hazard to kids when they put broken balloon pieces in their mouths or when they inhale intact balloons when trying to blow them up
- safety pins, pen caps.
- small toy parts, such as Lego building blocks, dice, beads, etc.
- dry pet food
- Any type of plastic bag
Vacuum your home daily to decrease items your child may find lying on the floor.
Cut up food into very small pieces and supervise toddlers while they eat to ensure they don't shove to much food into their mouths at once.
Child-proof cabinets to ensure children don't find small items inside them. There are locks that can be found at many retailers that can be placed on cabinets to keep toddlers out.
Learn CPR and have emergency phone numbers next to the telephone.
Also, be sure to supervise children closely when visiting others homes that may not be as well child proofed as your own. There could be choking hazards your child may find.
