The Flexshaft you buy is really only as good as the price you pay. Unfortunately, some sellers are saying "Foredom-like" because Foredom is the "Standard" by which all flexshaft machines are judged.  I am not saying that these Chinese machines are no good. On the contrary, they are decent for the amount you pay. If you are using them for hobby wood carving they will probably suite you just fine. However, if you are needing a tool with a great deal of accuracy in the handpiece, these are not for you.

When my trusty 30 year old Foredom finally became too worn for further use and neded to be rebuilt I purchased two of the "Woodworker" Series flexshafts from a dealer here on ebay to use until my Foredom came out of the shop as I am a Custom Jeweler and cannot be without my flexshaft machines.

ON THE DOWN SIDE:  After opening the package I could see that they were copied after the early Foredom CC Series but were lacking in several areas: There were no lubricating holes on either end of the motor shaft; the attachment of the shaft to the motor was cheaply done with an aluminum cap that had little adjustment for the shaft/sheath length, unlike Foredom - this can affect the proper working of the handpiece; the motor body was a poorly finished casting with no ability to rebuild the lower bearings; and, most important for those of us who need minimal runout, the handpieces were NOT true running - BOTH ran out-of-round.

ON THE UP SIDE:  The inner workings of the motor seem to be quite decent and I found that by making adjustments, I could use a Foredom handpiece with no problems!

CAUTIONS:  You MUST do the following no matter what your intended use might be:  The shaft MUST be removed from the sheath and lubricated with Flexshaft grease;  the shaft/sheath adjustment must be done with the handpiece removed so that the shaft is not 'bowed' inside the sheath when it is mated to the handpiece; the handpiece that comes with the unit should be slightly lubricated at the chuck; the motor bearings should be lubricated with high performance oil at the top and bottom (with the shaft removed) on a regular basis.

With these points taken into consideration, these units are a great deal for only $40 or so.

Thanks for your time and I hope this helped!
