This will be quick, and to the point. Most chinese batteries do not work for more than a month (usually past any warranty period). I've purchased 3 generic batteries (2 for my Sony Cybershot camera, and 1 for an older Sony Mavica camera) in the last 7 months. In all 3 cases, the battery works fine for about 2 weeks to a month, then something goes wrong:
- 1 battery died on me after a month (i put it through 3 recharge cycles during the time i had it). 1 day, it just stopped powering up the camera.
- battery #2 worked fine for 2 weeks. Then, i charged it up overnight. When i turned the camera on, it said i had 7 minutes left. I turned it off, and back on, and had 97 minutes left. i did that a 3rd time, and back to 8 minutes left. i purchased an OEM Sony battery, and no problems since (4 months ago).
- 1 battery, for the Mavica, showed a full life of charge, but would just turn off for no reason, with no warning. This started after about 3 weeks. An OEM Sony battery also fixed that issue.
- And as a side note, i had a chinese generic battery come in a laptop i purchased on eBay. The locks didn't line up, so the battery would just slide out. The seller thought the laptop was defective, but it was just the generic battery that caused the problems. Saved me some money...just had to buy a used OEM battery for $15.00.
So just a heads up, to save you some time, and from possibly thinking your camera/laptop is possessed or Fubar'd...it may just be that generic battery.
