CHILDREN"S SHOE SIZING

Sizing children's shoes can be a tough job for anyone out there searching.  I hope this guide will help ease your mind as you place that bid. 

As I began searching for shoes for my son, I realized that this can get pretty confusing!    Did you know that their are Toddler, Boys, Youth, and Mens/Womens sizes to consider?  And they share the same numbers for sizing?  As a Mom myself this made me pretty anxious about what would be coming in the mail. 

I would like to start out suggesting that if you ever have a question for a seller,    ask it! 

Save yourself the worry, "was that a little boy/girl size or a big boy/girl size"?                      Get it in inches, and figure it out for yourself, with the guide below.

I also recomend a little internet searching.  If you can find the shoe brands web site, check out their recomendations for sizing.  Do they tend to run small or large? 

For my little ones, I tend to go for larger sizes, if there is a question, they will always grow into it!

The best way I have heard, is to start out with a piece of paper and trace your child's feet.  (Remember to do both feet.)  Some of us have one foot that is bigger than the other. :)  Measure each footprint and go with the longest.  Now we are getting somewhere!

This guide is not exact, as each brand may be slightly different than the next. :)  It will give you some idea of what to look for though!

Toddler sizing

Inches           4 3/4....5 1/8.........5 1/2....5 3/4

Shoe size       5..........6 ..............7.........8       

(after this they are considered Childrens or Kids sizes, but they follow the same numbers.)

Childrens/Kids sizing

Inches        6 1/8.......6 1/2........6 3/4........7 1/8.........7 1/2

Shoe size   9.............10............11.............12............13

After 13 the sizes begin at 1 again.  This is a shady area because some shoe brands stay with 'Kids' size, some call it 'Youth' size and a few just move to 'Mens', but I haven't seen that very often.  This is why inches can help so much!  :)

Kids/ Youth Sizing

Inches        7 3/4......8 1/8......8 1/2......8 3/4........9 1/8.........9 1/2.........9 3/4

Shoe size   1............2.............3...........4...............5..............6................7

Here again, is a brand preference, shoes may be 'Youth' or 'Mens' after size 7 or 9 3/4 inches.  Our feet must also slow down, because I always notice half sizes starting at this point.

Since this guide is for children, I haven't continued into the Mens/Youth sizing.  That will need to be another guide!  I hope I have helped you in your search for that perfect fit!
