I beleive in child safety, especially after my son's almost fatal accident. On a warm spring day my son fell out of his two story bedroom window to his near death. His older brother came downstairs to tell me. My husband picked up his almost lifeless body off the concrete. His head was swollen and very hot. It was like eternity, but only minutes when the rescue team came to help. He was taken by REACH helicopter to the Children's hospital. It was worry and wait for the family.
He was put on life support to keep his body alive since it went into shock. His head had fractured like an egg. He had slight bleeding to the brain that obsorbed back in system. A major concussion. A broken foot. No surgery needed. He would hopfully get through this with time. He's ok. He's healthy.
It's been two years since the fall and I still preach about child proofing the windows, one stories too. Children can fall from a chair and brake a bone. Not all kids survive a two story fall on concrete. What's important is keeping young children safe in the home where they spend most of their time.
Tradegy happens in a heartbeat. Children are explorers and are innocent to danger. As a parents' job, our job it to protect them and make a safe enviroment. window wedge
