I am a GPS programming guru by now, after owning a Magellan Maestro for 2 years. It has two really useful functions on there. You can save any number of scrapbook store locations to the address book, and there's a plan a trip function that optimizes a list of locations, in case you want to hit every store over 2 days. It also works for the airline when they have 20 bags to deliver, or pool boys when they have 7 houses to work on Tuesdays, or... to plan a Saturday and Sunday of nothing but garage sales.

Anyway, if you're planning on visiting the Napa Valley, San Francisco Bay Area, or Sacramento River Valley areas of California, and want to check out scrapbooking stores while here, here's the best way to route it to save gas. You'll end up near Fairfield, then you can spend time at the Jelly Belly or Beer Factory, or drive over to Napa and enjoy a day of wineries. Call first for store hours and verify the store is still there. Email me before you come. I live in this area.

Monday

  1. Krazy Kreations, 1122 Grant Ave, Novato, CA
  2. Scrapbook Territory, 1717 4th St, Berkeley, CA
  3. Drive down to Pier 39 Fisherman's Wharf or Little Italy in San Francisco for dinner and touristing. I suggest bringing a guide or guidebook. Union Square is cool, too, and is accessible by ferry.

Tuesday

  1. Begin with Lunch in Concord at the Farmer's Market Yum! Find the French guy with the spinach salads and world's flakiest pastry-lunch-pockets. They're to die for! Watch the cooking demo on the other side of the square and buy some fresh fruit for desert. You'll be hooked!
  2. Remember When, 607 Gregory Lane, Pleasant Hill CA <--One of my favorites!
  3. Michael's, 120 Crescent Dr, Pleasant Hill, CA <-- A big one with good deals! And it's in a nice area with other stores with something to please everyone. Skip the over iced frappaccino inside Borders and get a fruit smoothie at Jamba Juice.
  4. My Daughter's Wish, 2835 Contra Costa Blvd, Pleasant Hill, CA
  5. Stamper's Warehouse, 101 Town and Country Dr, Danville, CA
  6. Pleasant Memories, 4247 Rosewood Dr, Pleasanton, CA
  7. Stay over night in Pleasanton. It's so beautiful. You're close to San Jose, so, if you want, jot down there for the evening or in the morning to tour the Winchester Mansion, then eat at the Cheesecake Factory.

Wednesday

  1. It's Scrapbook Time, 2348 Buchanan Rd, Antioch, CA
  2. Scrap Diva, 1185 2nd St, Brentwood, CA
  3. Katie's World, 9210 Thornton Rd, Stockton, CA
  4. Scrapbook Dreams, 1217 W March Ln, Stockton, CA
  5. There's not much to see in Stockton after that. I would use this day to head out to Yosemite and spend a day or two out that way. Or, head back to San Francisco and cool off on the beach, surf in Monterey (watch for sharks), or hike to the lighthouse at Point Reyes, or if you can, book a boat tour or ferry ride. I hear Alcatraz is kinda cool. If driving, drive by San Quentin. It's where Scott Petersen and Marilyn Manson are held. And check out the Golden Gate Bridge. China Beach is a good spot to photograph its entire span from afar, but you can get some great shots walking the length of the bridge. My GGB pictures are some of my favorites I've ever taken in my whole life. If you're flying out of SFO in the morning time you can move this day to the day before your flight.

Weekend

  1. May-Oct, the Concord Market is supposed to be open an additional day per week. If you want to try a new place to eat, try the Delta Queen in Sacramento for Sunday Brunch. There's BBQ places to be found here and there in Sac, too. There's good places to eat all over Old Town Sac, and surrounding Arden Fair Mall.  If you're flying out of Sacramento, reverse the order. Otherwise, it's planned out for people ending up in Fairfield and Napa. This is also a good plan after driving back into the city from Tahoe.
  2. Green Tangerines, Lone Tree Blvd, Rocklin, CA <-- New store concept, super huge, state of the art, and not to be missed
  3. Scrapbook Boutique, 7733 Fair Oaks Blvd, Carmichael, CA
  4. Scrapbook Corner, 8435 Elk Grove Florin Rd, Elk Grove, CA
  5. Heart to Heart Memories, 9320 Elk Grove Blvd, Elk Grove, CA
  6. Stamper's Corner, 9683 Elk Grove Florin Rd, Elk Grove, CA
  7. Scrapbook Addict, 9632 Emerald Oak Dr, Elk Grove, CA
  8. Beverly's Unique Scrapbooking, 5964 S. Land Park Dr, Sacramento, CA
  9. Scrappy Trails, 1001 Hume Way, Vacaville, CA <-- My new favorite place. The help is nice, interested in you, and it's located right down from Costco or the Outback Steakhouse, plus a movie theater and downtown Vacaville which is kinda cute, and that's a great place to make a spa appointment for hair, facial, or massage. Book early! The street seems to cater to bachelorette parties, too. There's a lingerie shop and a place to do a little clubbing. If you want a club that's more upscale, go look in Napa (chandon.com).
  10. Scrapbook by Design, 3001 N Texas St, Fairfield, CA <-- south of the Pena Adobe exit where the park is. Where the dogs can run around in an enclosed area, trails for hiking or bike riding, geese to feed. Get Starbucks off to the side by Raley's grocery store on N Texas. Then go shower and book some comedy club tickets online. Or... head out to Rockville at the end of W Texas St and go mountain biking or hiking in the park. The chain fence and gate will be on your left after the light and past the big curve. Dogs on a leash are allowed at either park. Bring a poop bag for Spot. =-)
  11. Scrap Ohana, 832 W Texas St, Fairfield, CA <-- Hit this locale towards evening, eat at a nice place outside the mall on Travis Blvd and Gateway, then head back to this W Texas area for PepperBelly's comedy club. If you search, there's many sushi places in a  few mile radius, as an alternative. The comedy club gets big and small acts. It's fun, and a low stress way to bring your trip to a close before heading back home. Run by the post office to mail your post cards and you're golden.

Finally, email me and make suggestions so we can tweak this bad boy!
