Should I really buy that Motor or Transmission on ebay ?
Is price is right ? The shipping is cheap ? But what am i looking for ? Reove valve cover !!!!!!!!! Compression test !!!!!!!!! Leak down test is an good thing,
What is that !!!!!!!!
have the seller open up the motor so you can see what your getting. Ask for compression test #'s and get a photo of it with the gauge in the motor. Leak down tests are ok but do not let you hear the motor running, sure you will get some great compression # and test results, Leak down tests can be manipulated and made to look like to have a favoriable numbers. A bench test is the give me the best results and also the confidiance to my buyers.
How ever I did have a case of fraud with a buyer from a shop called "******Tune" So I sold the person a AE101 4AGZE S/C, sold it to him as a long block. So I do a follow up with this person about the motor and then the 1st part of the scam starts. "******Tune" Oh the motor you sold me is bad. I reply back to this person telling him as from the begining how the motor is tested, And my precetiontion of this person was staring to be wary of this person and his approch to me about the problem, so my atttitude is ok if you have a problem, send me a photo of the compression of the motor not a leak down test, Dont get a reply from him and next I get a photo of the motor on a leak down test and I do not get a photo showing the motor is set to TDC what is required to close all of the valves. I asked this person many times to do this and he was playing an angle with me to try to get me to refund him his money and for him to keep the very good motor I sold him. So I told him ship the motor back to me, this person must have thought I just started selling motors yesterday. So I told "******Tune" please send the motor back to me and I will refund him his money, so he comes back to me tell me I have to refund him his money $ 1st, and then he would send it back so it went on like this for a while, so bascially I refunded him his orginial purchase price but he has to pay to ship the motor back to me. So once I got the motor back to me, not only did this person tamper with the motor also it was retruned dammaged. So, "******Tune" was trying to play an angle oh the motor is bad.
All my customer who bought a motor off of me are very happy and would recomend me to a friend for their project. I dont commit acts of fraud to my customers as you are my advertising for me and word of mouth is the best advertising in this feild. I treat all of my parts and engine sales as if it were my own project and want only the best and higest quality for any of my customers.
If you are not with in the grasp of the price range of one the motors that I sell, or is just out of your price range, I would be more then happy to tell you what you need to look for.
When you look for a motor ask the seller some common questions.
1) Where did you get it from
2) Do you have the paper work ?
3) How many miles or KIlometers does it have ?
4) Has the motor been tested and what are the compression #'s
5) Does the supercharger or Turbo spin freely?
6) What is your warrenty replacement agreement?
7) If you have doubts about buying a motor from that seller ask them to remove the valve cover and have the motor professionally tested with a compression test and Leak down test.
8) ask your local forums about that person/seller's stance about their rep and look for the reply's about it.
