Please beware of the myriad of cheap NIMH battery chargers on Ebay. Many of these originate from Hong Kong/China. I had the misfortune of buying one in a package with 8 NIMH 2500 mAH AA and 8 1000 mAH AAA batteries. These chargers come with a power adapter for the particular buyer's country (in my case for Australian sockets). The charger has two uninsulated, light-weight pins that plug (very loosely) into the adapter. Again the adapter has poor quality uninsulated prongs. These chargers do not meet Australian standards and would probably not meet the standards of most countries.
These carry a real risk of electrocution and death, especially with children around.
Also, the batteries are rubbish. The "2500 mAH" AAs have a capacity of 300-400 mAHs as measured on my Maha C9000 charger (a decent charger to say the least). The batteries are branded "BTY."
I smashed up my charger before throwing in the recycling. I didn't want someone finding it and trying to use it. The batteries also went in the BIN.
Unfortunately I didn't use it for many weeks after the purchase and my positive feedback had already been left. I can't believe these things are still for sale.
Ebay sellers with this rubbish, how would you feel if you found out someone died of electocution because of one of these "chargers"?
