Charvels and Jackson the metalists dream guitar back in the 80s and today. I love um. There are some issues though that must be brought out to the younger gen. The Charvels of the mid 80s and 90s were made in Japan, Sorry some will say no, but to no avail, they were Japan made. Starting in 86 Charvels were made in Japan, even though the back plate says Fort Worth TX USA, it is not USA. These guitars are easy the fake, I mean how hard is it to build a Strat with one or two humbuckers and fulcrum tremolo on it and say " Hey its a SAN DIMAS". Hears one way you can check. On the Logo Charvel the little headstock will have 3 to a side tuners if it is a USA, if it is a Jap then it will have 6 to a side tuners. If the years are between 86-92 or 3 most likely it will be Japan made. Charvetts are not what people are making them out to be, they were the cheap line of Charvel no less, with Charvel pickups in them, I dont know where they were made and it really doesnt matter considering the market they were after. Have fun shopping and buying your next Charvel guitar.
