Changing & Adding Hardware inside your computer tower.
This is so relativly easy now a days its not funny Especially if you use windows xp operating system.
Ram is the most diffacult I think as you have to make sure you get the right type for your system. But once you have
it, It is very easy to change out and add more to make your system run a whole lot faster and load windows on start up a whole lot faster.
There are typicaally 2-4-6 slots on the motherboard with the sticks of ram. Just power the machine down and unplug it.
Then take the side of the tower off and touch your hand to the chassis to get rid of any possible static electricity.
There will be a clip on either end of the memory stick flip them back and pull it out and just plug your new sticks in making sure the clips click into place. Walla, Faster maching now.
Changing a Sound Or Video Card. You will know which they are by what wires connect to them on the back of the tower.
Again you will have to contact the manufacturer for the specs on what type of slot your system uses.
Mine has a simple slot in it. My wifes system has a pci express slot which is what newer systems use today for the video cards. Hey system has a GForce 6600le video card with 256 megs of ram on it. The more ram on a video card means the faster it processes graphics in gaming software.
Just pull the side off the tower touching the chassis again to be rid of any static electricity. You will need a phillips head screw driver to unscrew the card from the chassis just pull it out and put the new sound or video card into that slot.
With these after you've put everything back together you will most likely need the cd rom that came with them to install the software to fully use them. Just put the cd in and follow the menu prompts is all.
Just make sure you know the pertinant information on what you need before you buy it as its harder and harder to return this stuff to the stores anymore.
Hope this has helped you out. Scott
