There are two different versions of Chanel Black Satin Nail Polishes.

One is 'made in the U.S.A.', and one is 'made in France', Both are Chanel, but they are 2 different nail polishes.

The Black Satin Nail Colour released for the U.S. in fall 2006 is a limited edition of Black Satin Exclusively in the USA. It was sold at Saks, Bloomingdales, NM, Nordstrom, etc. It is different than the European version. The U.S. limited edition has a small amount of platinum shimmer, just enough to give it the look of satin, as oppose to a vinyl finish of the straight black.  They are similar, but the LE version has a different depth to it, and a slightly softer finish. The limited edition is completely sold out. It appears as though the European version can still be bought in Canada, Europe, and Asia.

THE LIMITED EDITION CHANEL BLACK SATIN NAIL POLISH, MADE IN THE USA. (HAS SMALL AMOUNT OF SHIMMER IN IT).

• The Made in the USA Black Satin Nail Color is black with a hint of smoky finish, to give it the look of satin. It is unique. It looks like a ribbon of platinum inside the bottle.
  
• It has 'MADE IN USA' written on the back of the box, and the back of the bottle. (shown below).
• The Limited Edition Black Satin nail polish was only available at boutiques and department stores in the U.S. and is completely sold out across the country.
  

THE EUROPEAN VERSION IS NOT LIMITED EDITION (it is still available in Europe and Asia as of May 2007) AND HAS NO SHIMMER

• The European Chanel Black Satin is currently available in Europe, Asia and Canada, and is not limited edition.
  
• The non-limited edition Chanel Black satin is made in france, and does not have any shimmer. They are just black.
  
• The non-limited edition Chanel Black satin has 'MADE IN FRANCE' written on the back of the box, and the back of the bottle.

Chanel Black Satin on Ebay: Before purchasing your Chanel Black Satin nail polish, check where the seller and item are located. If the item is located in anywhere in Asia, Europe or Canada, it is most likely not the Limited Edition version of the polish. Even if the seller IS located in the USA, that is no guarantee the item being sold was made in the USA. Sellers living in the U.S. are buying the non-limited edition plain black nail polish abroad so they can sell it on ebay. Most of the Chanel Black Satins on ebay are from abroad because the USA edition was very limited.

Before purchasing your Chanel Black Satin Nail Polish, make sure it is what you are looking for.

If you want the edition that was sold in the USA,, Check with your seller to make sure it says 'MADE IN USA'.

In October of 2006 Chanel finally sent another shipment of Chanel Black Satin nail polish to stores, they were ALSO the 'made in the usa' version.
