A prooflike coin is a Highly POLISHED by the MINT regular strike coin. A prooflike coin appears to have a near proof coin reflection. Prooflike coins usually occur in the earliest strikes. Prooflike coins are the most common in intentionaly produced PL sets, such as Canada. Very few countries produce prooflike sets. Most countries prefer to sell TRUE double struck/highly polished PROOF coins. I have purchased Cameo PL Canadian coins, US & or Foreign PL coins.   In many cases with NGC coins,  Canada Ultra Cameo Silver PL, Canada Cameo clad PL, or other US or foreign PL sets will be too RARE or do NOT exist to complete a set!

These are my personal reccommendations:
1.  Eventually you or your estate WILL likely resell your purchase.
2.  You should ONLY pay higher prices for a respected certified coin..
I agree with part of Teletrades standards. I only buy NUMBERED
certified coins, I do NOT want another resale problem!
Teletrade will ONLY sell coins Certified by:
1. PCGS
2. NGC
3. ANACS
4. ICG
Many Ebay negative ratings were caused by people that did NOT use Teletrade sales RESTRICTIONS! Ebay certified coins claims recently switched to the SAME requirements!
Only ANACS or NGC allow NON (US Morgan DOLLAR or Canada) PL coins!
PCGS has started using PL's on a few modern circulation strike  foreign coins.
A prooflike or Cameo proof FAILURE could still be a good coin to buy!
Are there any better regular coins graded?  The test for a Prooflike is a STANDARDIZED TEST! A true PROOFLIKE coin could be IMPOSSIBLE!  Certified coin tests do NOT MAKE ALLOWANCES FOR HOW POOR the original metal reflects on a coin was struck on!   Ex::  The NGC Nazi German 1942F ms63 50Pf I purchased on Ebay. The German 1942F 50pf coin was made of poorly reflecting aluminium.  NGC reports NO PL exist.

I exhibited  my NGC Nazi German 1942F  50 Pf before the Largo Coin Club.   Every one who saw it, thought it looked PL to them!

You want your purchase to have a good resale value.  The best certified coin  frequently costs more than the certified coin is worth!  You will owe the Coin Cost, Certification Fee and Mailing and  back and forth insurance .  Some of the best Certifiers claim a 50% prooflike success rate!
A individual submitter is almost no competition to a Big volume submitting coin dealer.

Proof Like coins are RARE except for intentionally  produced PL sets.  I want my Canada 1953 on PL coins to also be Cameo! A cameo coin has enough reflection for Professional graders to read news print from the reflection of that coin.

Unfortunately Prooflike coins DEMAND is LIMITED! What  is a Certified RARE  PROOFLIKE TODAY COULD BE MORE COMMON LATER!  Ex: Former FINEST KNOWN  pop 1 Now pop 2 Ngc 1972D pl67 quarter.  I saw this coins previous owner Pop 1 asking prices.  I later purchased this coin for MUCH less than I expected in a open auction by the second owner.   NGC's last  population  report showed it was now a pop 2 coin!  ALL PL coin owners RUN THIS RISK!

Most people DO NOT CARE ABOUT PROOFLIKES TO PAY MUCH MORE!  It is HARDER to resell your Prooflike coins!  Prooflike coin price values are in very few publications. Frequently Prooflike coins I have purchased, were purchased at BIG discounts from other dealer coin offerings.  Pl coins usually are 1 or more numbered grades lower than a regular coin.  Some dealers claim a regular prooflike coin has a value 1 grade higher. A Deep, Ultra or DCAM  Prooflike coin has a value 2 grades higher. Few books SUPPORT these valuation claims!  This argument will be used for a dealer or against you as a seller no matter how RARE the PL coin is!   Note: Even if your Certified Coin is RARE, the NORMAL COIN MAY STILL BE COMMON!  This will alway keep the value of your RARE coin at a reasonable market price!
If my comments help, please give me  your vote!
Thanks, Lq!
