How can you prevent liquid damage on your new phone? There are a lot of things to keep in mind. First and foremost, electronics and liquid do ntot mix.

Keep your phone away from water. This may seem common sense. But did you know that using your phone in the rain will cause liquid damage (rain will get inside of your phone and cause liquid damage). Do you normally have a drink beside you on your desk with the cell phone there as well? Place your phone away from all drinks as they may spill.  Don't place your phone on the sideboard near the sink. It doesn't have to fall in the sink; there may be water or moisture on the sideboard.  It doesn't have to be dumped in the dog's water bowl for liquid damage to occur. Moisture will cause liquid damage just as quick. Don't leave it in your car. If it's cold outside the phone will get cold. What happens to a glass when you put it in  a freezer then you take it out and pour a drink in it? You can see condensation running down the side of the glass. That's the same idea with keeping your phone in a cold area. Don't keep it in the car when it's hot out. Not only might it be ruined by the heat alone but the phone may sweat from the heat; once again causing liquid damage.  Don't use it in the rain. It may just be a small rain shower with a few drops, but all it takes is one drop and your phone has liquid damage.

Take it out of your pants or coat pocket (or zip your coat pocket up) before going near a sink or toilet. The number one cause of liquid damage is dropping it in a toilet. Bending over to wash your hands is another common cause. Wipe your hands before using your phone, water on your hands will cause liquid damage.

Another major reason for liquid damage is the beach. People will jump in the water not remembering to take it out of their pocket.  Instead of keeping your phone in your pocket, either get a seperate bag for your phone (like you would for a lap top) or put it on a belt or something you have to take off before jumping in the water.

Don't just throw it in your purse with everything else. Keep it in a purse that has no liquid contents. Perfume, moisturizer, even contact cleaner can ruin your phone. If you have to have these things with you, think of carrying a water  proof bag inside your purse with your liquid items. The best way to be safe is putting your phone in a zip lock bag. Not only will it help if something in your purse leaks, but if it starts raining you'll be safe as well. Even if you don't use a purse, keep a ziplock bag with you and think about getting a water proof case. It may not be raining when you leave the house, but when the rain does start, your water proof case will be just what you need for your phone. Getting ready to go sailing or jump on a boat for a little fishing or site seeing? Just throw the phone in the zip lock bag and you'll be safe!
