You may well say, who would be so stupid to waste a 1897 unused 3c Red Revenue to fake an overprint. After all the unused 3c Red Revenue without overprint is a great rarity on its own!!!!

Ha! What about a fake 3c Red Revenue? The forgers only need to add a convincing looking overprint to change it to any of the cheaper values (except the small One Dollar which is too good to be true selling on ebay!)

Excellent laser printed 3c Red Revenues with fake perforations, fake typo-overprint and fake cancels have been found on ebay. To all intense and purpose, the stamps look exactly like the genuine ones - from your computer mon.

However, smarter and more skilful forger can change the overprint. For example, a 2 cent or a large 4 cent overprint to a small 4 cent overprint by scraping the original overprint out and re-stamped it with a fake smaller 4. It is that simple!

Therefore, when it comes to buying 3c Red Revenues on ebay, always ask the seller for money back guarantee. Or else, forget it. That's my advice.
