If you have a cat, kitten or whatever you want to call your furry feline friend, you know how challenging it can be to keep them entertained, happy and healthy! I have six, ages one to 13, and here are some of my suggestions:
First thing you want to consider is safety! Keep the fleas and ticks off of them by using either Frontline or Revolution (the cheapy store bought stuff doesn't work...your vet carries the other and it is SO worth the extra moolah!). This will tone down on disease. Keep the shots updated and make sure they wear an ID collar just in case Socks gets lost or decides another family is more exciting than you!
On the entertainment side of things, I love the ever-so-large CAT TREES. It really saves your furniture and they LOVE these things to climb, leap, scratch, sniff and cling onto like a madman. Sprinkle some Catnip on there and you will most likely experience a spastic side of Fluffy you have never seen. Also, from my experience, the "babies" LOVE toys with REAL Feathers and REAL Rabbit Fur. You can get these here on eBay or your local Wal-Mart. Mine will carry them around for hours in their mouth like a fetching dog.
Finally, make sure they have lots and lots and lots of love from you. They will usually ASK for it when THEY want it(although some will beg for your attention like a hyper little lap dog)....
PS: And remember, have your pet spayed or neutered!
PSS: Adopt from a shelter when you can; adult cats are just as wonderful and full of life and personality as a cute little kitten!
