Cat Fishing Techniques & Bait Recipe for Monster Cats!

1.) I recommend using at least 25lbs test line for the following technique. Anything less and you risk losing a Trophy Cat Fish. Yes, there is such a thing!

A.) First, you will need a #3 Wide-Gap hook similar to the ones you would use when Bass Fishing. I recommend that you tie a Polomar Knot (A guide on tying this knot can be purchased right here on Ebay). This is a very good knot for cat fishing and will probably out last the hook if tied correctly.

B.) As far as weight goes, your bait should be plenty of weight to get you out there far enough. If you find that you cannot cast out far enough to where you think the Cat Fish are, chances are you do not have enough bait on your hook to entise a Monster Cat.

C.) Let's talk floats/bobbers. If you feel more comfortable using a bobber/float, I recommend that you use a free floating one or one made especially for Cat Fishing. These are available on Ebay as well. These are much better than the hook on types that are likely to damage your line. Plus, these bobbers allow your bait to get down deep where the Big Cats are lurking.

D.) When choosing a Good Cat Fish Bait, I recommend that you stay away from the Stink Bait Brand. No matter the type: Nightcrawlers, Shad, Blood, Cheese, etc. these baits do not offer the protein or smell that Big Cats look for. With these, one thing is for sure, the wife or girlfriend is going to know that you have been fishing, instead of working on your To-Do List! This will just complicate your next fishing trip/plan! However, while I do not recommend it, if it works for you, use it!

OK, LET'S TALK CAT FISH BAIT!

Here is what you will need to create the Ultimate Monster Cat Bait that they just can't resist:

1.) 1-2oz. Bottle of Vanilla Flavoring (Not the Imitation Stuff, the Real Stuff)

2.) 1 Small box of Brown Sugar

3.) 1 Small, Cheap container of Garlic Powder (*** Not Garlic Salt***)

4.) 1 Small Bag of Corn Meal & 1 small bag Flour ( Don't be cheap, it makes a big difference )

5.) 1 Small bottle of Anise Oil ( If not avail, you may substitute it with Butter Rum or Butter Scotch Flavoring)

6.) 1 Small Bag of Corn Flakes ( Any Brand )

7.) 1 Bar of Ivory Soap

8.) 1 Pack of Strawberry Kool-Aid

9.) 1 Pair Disposable Plastic Gloves

10.) Large Mixing Bowl

***The thickness of the finished Bait should be that of stiff biscuit dough. Test small amounts of it by molding it around your Hook and casting it out. It should stay on your hook. If not, you need to get it dryer, add more flour, corn-meal or corn flakes. Once it stays on with every cast, you are ready to go cat Fishing! Also, if you can't Smell this bait from at least 10ft away once complete, then neither will the Cat Fish!***

Bait must be mixed in order stated below for best results!

Put your Gloves on and be sure not to contaminate the mixture with bare hands.

Start by mixing ingred. # 1, # 2, and # 3 in the Bowl.

Once mixed, add ingred # 5 and continue to mix well. (A food processor works great but, hand power will do)

Melt the Ivory Soap, # 7 down in a pan on low heat on the stove. Once melted, add it to the bowl and continue to mix thoroughly.

Once mixed, add # 8, Strawberry Kool-aid to mixture. Continue to mix well.

If it becomes to dry, you may use water or more flavoring. Flavoring is recommended but water will work!

Once Mixed, add a little extra Flavoring or Water and start crushing the # 6, Corn Flakes up as you add them to the mixture and continue to mix.

Finally, start adding the # 4, Corn Meal and the Flour and continue to add Flavoring or water until the Bait remains on your hook with every cast. You may also add a half a can of whole kernal corn to the mixture for added Smell.

***Once bait remains on hook during pratice, you are now ready to Cat Fish. Mold the bait around the entire Hook and cast out as far as possible without slinging the bait off. You may also use a Cat Fish Bait Lure especially made for Cat Fish Bait. This works great for holding the bait longer. Cast it out and allow it to sink to the bottom. Then, sit back, prop your feet up and by all means HOLD ON. Fish the spot for at least 20 minutes and then move to another spot close by. If you do not catch anything after 1 hour, there are no Cat Fish worth wasting your time over. Find another Spot where you know for a fact that MONSTER CATS have been caught from.***

***Warning, I am not responsible for lost fishing Rods, Reels or other Fishing Equipment while using this bait. I recommend that if fishing from the bank, you use a Rod Holder. I recommend that if you are fishing from a Boat while using this Bait, that you bring at least 2 anchors.***

Check back Next Week when we will Talk about Pan Fish Fishing Tips & Tricks.

One more thing....Take a Kid Fishing, they will remember it for a Lifetime! God-Bless...
