As a strategy game, Castle Keep is very simple to play. As opposed to many other strategy games of its type, it doesn't come with complicated rules or a myriad of pieces that can be easily lost. Players use a six piece board on which the walls and towers of a castle are drawn. There are different pieces with different colors, representing each player's castle.
There are two main strategies players can use while playing Castle Keep. The first is to focus on the construction of one's own castle. The second is to focus on destroying the opponent's castle. Players can use games tiles to improve the strength of their castle walls and their defense from attack. Finding the right balance between the two could be the difference between victory or sitting in ruins!
In addition to the Oppenheim Platinum Toy Portfolio Award, Gamewright has won numerous awards for Castle Keep. These include Doctor Toy's 10 Best Games of the Year, the Parent's Choice Silver Honor and the National Parenting Center Seal of Approval. Its simple design and easy rules mean that kids can play with friends or with the entire family.
