Steps to follow when buying a Cash Register or Point of Sale (POS) equipment.
1. Decide on the type of equipment you need, a computer based POS system, a cash register based POS system or a simple stand alone cash register.
2. Once you decide which is right for you, find out all you can about the equipment you are looking to purchase.
3. Decide if you want or need a local dealer to program and install your equipment, if so make sure to get references from some of his other customers.
4. Get references from other people who are using the equipment you are looking to purchase and ask them how happy they are with the equipment.
6. Get all the specifications, preventative maintenance schedules and warranty information about the potential equipment.7. Once you decide on what to purchase, make sure you give all the required information about the installation and program (your menu) to the person who is doing this for you. This will ensure things are done quickly and correctly.
8. Make sure to keep in touch with your installer/programmer/dealer and ask to be shown periodicly where they are in the programming of your equipment, this will ensure everything will be ready when you need it.
9. Once your equipment is installed and the program is correct, make sure to be available for the training on how to maintain your equipment, how to perform program maintenance on your menu and how to perform end of day procedures.
