CASE KNIFE COLLECTING CHAPTER 3
What Sets Case Apart From All of the Rest? This is only my Thoughts
My first Guide dealt with Collectability,My Second Guide was about Pattern Numbers and Year of Manufacture. Now the Next Chapter From My View Point
1 - Is it the sharpness of the blade or blades? NO Collectors could care less as long as the knife has not been used [this does not apply to OLD Case knives especially made before say 1970].
When it comes to Case knives Tru Sharp Blades says it all Surgical Steel and Very sharp they will cut you, they beat the rest of the competion hands down. [found in all Limited Edition Series,Special Handle Series,A Lot of Special Factory Ordered Knives and other Special Factory Runs]
2 - Is it the Case Tang Stamp Date System? This has a Lot to do with what makes Case XX knives so Collectable. The Buyer or Collector can tell the year of Manufacture Note: Case does make mistakes ie: I recently sold a Texas Toothpick the box had one date the tang stamp was for one year latter, factory Error does this make it more collectable probably not unless it is a SFO because not many where produced.
As far as I know NO other manufacturer has a Tang Stamp Dating system this includes Henckels,Kissing Crane,Queen, and ALL of the others.
3 - Handle Scales Is it handle Color or Jigging ? The color by Far is what makes Case XX so collectable. When Case Jiggs a Bone Handle and dyes them NO two are the same Always a small difference in Jigging or Color. Note: Handles with little or NO difference include most all Synthetic and Lasser Etched Bone. Example: Yellow Synthetic Handle Knives [meant to be working knife] but are collected.
One final thought which has not been mentioned Case Handle Knife Shields the Best in the Knife Industry,From the Retired Silver Script, the Old Circled Oval used in the 80's and 90's to the New Case Oval being used Since 2000 and ALL of the Special Factory Order and Special Run Shields Plus the Stars and Stripes Shields that where used after the Events of 9-11.
In Closing ALL of the Above in it's Unique way sets Case XX knives Apart from ALL of the Rest, especially for Collectability!
Thank You for taking your time and reading my views,CASE XX is the Most Collected Knife in The World and Proudly Made by Skilled Crafts People.
