If you want an amplifier that will push your speakers to the limit AND give you the best bass response you would ever want, get this Carver. I compare it to the Sansui G-9700 or the Sansui 9090 DB I previously owned. Any audio enthusiast would love this, as it falls into what I would call the "Dream Machines" of the audiophile world.
It will power 4 speakers at 130 watts per channel but in my opinion equates to the fidelity of either of the aforementioned Sansui receivers. If you wish to power more, get a Four-Way Speaker Selector put out by RadioShack. It can handle up to 8 speakers and is ideal for these older systems built for only 2 pairs of speakers. That little box is also great to add surround sound to any single or dual speaker system.
Down and Dirty, the Carver Receiver, model MXR-130 is simply the best receiver/amp combo I have ever owned.
