CARING FOR YOUR STERLING SILVER JEWELRY
The DO’s and DON’Ts for caring for your sterling silver jewelry.
DO’s
• DO store your jewelry in a cool dry place in a tarnish proof cloth, a tarnish proof plastic baggie, an air tight container or all of the above.
• DO take your jewelry off before doing tasks such as working with chemicals, cleaning dishes etc, or swimming. Put your jewelry on after applying makeup.
• DO clean your jewelry regularly in mild sudsy (non phosphate) water or plain water. Rinse well. Pat dry with a non scratching cloth (no paper). Polish gently with a polishing cloth.
DONT’s
• DON’T store your jewelry in direct sunlight, air, near chemicals, in extreme temps or where dust can get to it. Also don’t store your jewelry where it can touch other jewelry, as this can cause scratches. Also avoid storing it with other metals or rubber (unless you store it in its own container).
• DONT’T store on wood surfaces as wood normally contains acid and this will mar the finish of the jewelry.
• DON’T use paper on your jewelry when polishing, use only non scratching cloths.
