As we each go about our daily routines we create carbon emmissions which enter the atmosphere and have resulted in global warming, which is affecting us all around the world as the seas and atmosphere warms up. This is resulting in more extreme weather patterns which are with us NOW. It is widely accepted that this unusual weather will get worse before it gets better.

It can only be calmed down if we, as a collective body of humans change our lifestyle, primarily carbon emissions and that is why Scottish Carbon Com was formed in Scotland. Carbon Offsetting

Carbon offsetting is an immediate, easy and relatively inexpensive way of reducing the impact you are having on the environment. The REPLACE in our strapline, is where we plant trees on your behalf to replace areas of the Ancient Caledonian Forest. These trees absorb Carbon from the atmosphere. The trees will never be felled and parts of the forest are over 500 years old.

But REDUCE is at the front because it is only by changing our way of life - driving less often and a little bit slower than we are used to (5mph less makes a huge difference in fuel economy and you will still get there!) - turning down the heating a degree or two saves fuel and emissions - recycling as much as you can instead of just placing it in the bin where it is "out of sight out of mind" - WE have to start acting now.

RETURN is where we give a little back. Developing countries will not slow their advance as they raise themselves above the poverty line, nor can we expect that, however we CAN support and invest in their development, advising them through what we have learnt from the mistakes that we have made, and investing in carbon neutral projects such as solar power systems and in improved heating and cooking methods.
