I Just got my new Subaru factory repair Manual on C D , and I just knew I would be let down some what , but the price was cheap and the nice people (cute girl )at my local N A P A store told me that they are no longer getting wonderful Haynes manuals for newer cars etc. Newer as in (2002 ) Forester. Well I went to Two other Car parts stores and no luck with a 2002 book for my car . Onwards ! The biggest problem with C D books, guides ,Manuals is the Adobe pdf system of the pages and the layout . You can bring up page after page and its hard to find things in proper order . and scrolling down through pages is real time consuming and still you must close out a window to move to later pages .One other issue The C D dose not have a lot if information on step by step work . If I use the C D book with a older Paper Manual like one on a different Subaru ,the CD manual has some use . But if I can get a Manual for a 2002 Subaru that is a working Manual , the C D manual is almost a total wast of money . What I am looking at in most cases are parts layouts , they look as if they are out of the dealer parts book . Sometimes you can order a catalog from a parts Mail order store and you will get that in print . I have worked on a lot of different equipment , Cars ,Trucks ,Aircraft , Industrial heavy equipment ,Pumps , Motorcycles ,Steam engines and Odd British Cars . And if I had to use CD manuals alone as my only guide ,I think I would still be working on that first car . Best Manuals for most cars ,for most people ,are Paper printed ones by Haynes . And I think I have had them all . The best vintage manual I have is one for a 1960 VW by Scientific Magazines ,Its a real GEM.And let me know if you like or hate this guide vote yes or no .Thanks
