Online car buying becomes very popular on e-bay. There are many things to remember before you buy. As an auto dealer I would like to share some of my experience with you.
First, inspect the vehicle before you buy. If you live near by and can afford to spend half a day for an inspection please do so and inspect the vehicle before bidding. If you are unable to ispect the vehicle yourself let somebody else do it for you. There are many companies that would do it for you for a little charge. Afterall purchasing a vehicle is big investment and you do not want to invest in something that will not last two months.
Second, look at the feedback rating and other factors showing the seller's trustworthiness. Feedback is probably the most important factor to look at. Sellers with Feedback rating 70% or less should be aproached with great attention. Also look if the selling dealer is a member of Square Trade. Most Squre Trade Sellers sell their vehicles with buyer protection program and warranties.
Third, make sure seller disclosed all terms and conditions and you understand them. Taxes and doc. fees have to be disclosed in every listing including both instate and out-of-state sales. Look at the offered warranties. Like I mentioned before Squre Trade warranties some of the vehicles. Also, for some vehicles e-bay provides service contracts (1 month/1000 miles). Those warranties are offered by third party companies and not sellers. Ask seller is there is a warranty that comes with the vehicle from the manufacturer or an extended warranty plan availible. Look at the accepted payment methods.
And finally buy the advertised on e-bay vehicles trough e-bay. Do NOT buy off-e-bay. Vehicle purchased directly from seller are not covered by any warranty either from e-bay or square trade. If you buy directly you by at you own risk.
Good Luck Bidding,
