First let me say that ebay is the best place to buy new or used car audio components. You can find nearly any model or brand you are searching for, and for the lowest price anywhere on the internet and certainly lower than the big name stores or your local car audio shop. Whatever you are searching for, be it speakers, amplifiers, head-units, installation accessories, or a stock factory stereo for older and new model cars, trucks, and boats. You can usually find it on ebay. There are two main categories for car audio on ebay, consumer electronics and ebay motors. Some things might be listed in one category and not the other, and some will be in both. After browsing through a few pages, you'll see that there is a very vast number of car audio items available on ebay and any specifics will help you find exactly what your looking for. If searching for a specific item any model #'s, brand names, or distinct characteristics will help narrow your search. Try to find multiple listings for the same item from different sellers to compare price. Sometimes you will find the same item from the same seller for different prices! After you've compared price, pay special attention to shipping costs. Shipping costs can range from free to more than the purchase price of the item itself. Look to see with whom the seller will ship with and the handling time before it is shipped at all. Look for items with pictures of the actual product you are buying. Some sellers use stock photos from other websites or other auctions. I have personally seen some of my own auction photos used in other member's auctions because they either didn't have one of their own, were too lazy to take one, or maybe they just liked mine better. Regardless, just make sure you're actually looking at what you are bidding on. Some sellers offer warranties, refunds, or exchanges for defective items. All warranties and exchanges have certain conditions that apply so be sure to read the entire auction. Many sellers sell items that do not work that are used for parts, untested items, or they sell only a certain component from a particular item and not the item in it's entirety. You will find that nearly all of these such items are sold in AS-IS condition with no refunds, returns, or warranties at all. Don't ever assume that any accessories(remotes, wire harnesses, trim rings, etc.) are included in your auction, unless specified by the seller. If anything is not listed or pictured, don't hesitate to ask the seller a question. This is very important and cannot be stressed enough. Asking questons can make your decision to buy or not to buy a very easy one, especially if they don't respond at all, take an excessive amount of time to respond, or if they give vague answers to your questions. Communication is key in my book. Finally, check the sellers' feedback. This is the most honest gauge of who you are dealing with, and you can form your own opinion from the feedbacks left. After you've found what your looking for, compared purchase prices, shipping prices and carriers, determined if there is a warranty, returns, exchanges, or AS-IS, checked feedback, and have had all of your questions answered, then your ready to buy. Follow the payment instructions and you should be good to go. Seems a little overwhelming, but once you get that first killer deal, it will be totally worth the time and effort. Good luck and happy bidding!
